French Toast Stuffed with Swiss Cheese, Strawberries and BaconBack to recipes list
Two classic dishes mixed into one to form a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich that is dipped in a French toast mixture… A new addition to your breakfast recipes!
- 4 slices of bread
- 250 ml (1 cup) Swiss cheese, grated
- 125 ml (½ cup) strawberries, sliced
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and coarsely chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 125 ml (½ cup) milk
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg (optional)
- Butter for cooking
Spread half of the cheese on two slices of bread. Then, garnish with the strawberries and bacon, and top off with the remaining cheese. Close the sandwich with the second slice of bread. Set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup and nutmeg. Dip both sides of the sandwiches in the egg mixture.
In a non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Brown both sides of the sandwiches for 2 minutes or until golden. Drizzle with a little maple syrup.
